Tried and Tested: L'oreal False Lash Flutter Mascara

I've had this mascara in my stash for a long time and I've finally got round to using it. You know what means, it's review time!

The L'oreal False Lash Flutter Mascara (£10.99) is pretty darn good. It's supposed to give a 'butterfly wing effect' to the lashes and I have to agree with that. The mascara catches all the lashes at the outer corner, giving a really fluttery wing effect. It looks beautiful.

After (2 coats)
For me, the star of the show, is the wand. It's so unique that when you first go to apply it, you'll be thinking, how on earth am I going to use this?! However, because of its shape, it lifts the lashes and fans them out beautifully. If you look closely, the wand is made up of quite short firm bristles that look a little like a brush. This allows you to coat the lashes, lengthen them and add volume. I've tried to photograph it but it's a beast to capture! Forgive me!!

As you can see (hopefully), it's slightly curved and kind of looks like a butterfly. I think that if you have hard to curl lashes, you will love this. It doesn't weigh them down, if anything, it really lifts and almost curls them.

Now, I'm not going to lie, I hated this mascara when I first used it. The formula is very wet and I made a huge mess when I was applying it. I'm not saying I like a dry mascara, but this is very wet! However, if you allow the mascara to dry out a little, it's pretty much perfect.

Since it is very wet, I find you can't build it up as much. I prefer to go in with lots of light coats instead of one thick coat. I used two coats for the pictures but any more and it starts to cluster the lashes together. Again, not a huge problem because it will dry out a little. For the first couple of times, I definitely recommend playing around with it to see how many coats you prefer. The joy of this mascara is that to get big drama, you don't need to build it up a lot.

Aside from those issues, this is a fab mascara. It lasts all day, doesn't flake, holds a curl but it's still easy to remove. I spy a repurchase in the future…

Have you tried this mascara? How did you find it?

Thanks for reading,
