An Autumn Staple

Since my return to blogging, I've gone on and on about the Illamasqua LookFantastic Eyeshadow Palette (£39) from last year's advent calendar. It's become such a staple in my collection, and I was surprised to see that it is still for sale exclusively on LookFantastic. A happy surprise mind you and one that spurred me to do a full review with swatches.

The palette consists of four shades; Servant, Tango, Terra and Vernau. All four shades are buttery soft and really buildable. I love how easy to work with they are and they last really well on me. Servant is a beautiful matte cream with peachy undertones that works well as a base shade and eyebrow highlight. The peachy elements really keep any other shades from turning ashy. Tango is a shimmery dark copper. It's equally good all over the lid or to deepen the outer corner.

Terra is a classic medium matte brown that every palette needs. It's creamy and makes the perfect crease colour to build definition. Vernau is the most gorgeous matte red toned orangey brown that's vibrant yet wearable. A little of this softly blended into the crease looks stunning. This to me is the focal point of this palette. It's a stunning colour that's so appropriate for Autumn. In fact, all four shades work in perfect harmony to create an Autumnal gradient, much like the changing colour of the leaves.

As an introduction to Illamasqua, this palette certainly doesn't disappoint. I'm so impressed with the quality of the eyeshadows that it makes me want to run out and buy everything Illamasqua!
